Home Sweet Home

For those of you who are curious (and for our families) here are pictures of our apartment!

This is what you see when you walk into the apartment.

Close up of the table. I'm pretty proud of my decorating skills. =)

Our "history" wall above our couch.

Our books on the wall opposite the window. One day we'll get another bookshelf.

Our "dining room".

Our IKEA bookshelves.
And a fish vase where our fish Jonah will go as soon as we can find a pet store.

The rest of the kitchen. Notice the lack of counter space...
(we had to buy the book shelves so we would have some!)

The kitchen wall with our fish theme!

Back the hall.
Hopefully we'll have to move the National Champions 2005 poster
for a National Champions 2009 poster soon. =)

The hall wall.

And our cute chair with flowers on it!

The bathroom. We like the window in the shower.

Our room.

Far Side Comics under the glass on the dresser top.
What? You can't read them? You'll just have to come visit us in Washington, DC!

1) Super-exciting to see the fish vase. :-D

2) I want to hear more about your job and life. I'm going to be reading things here... but I'd love to hear from you more directly sometime about how things are going. Consider this an official solicitation for an email.

3) I think of you almost every day because there are so many couples here. Besides Alex-Kirk-age families (that's seriously how I think of them), there are also many young married people or engaged people or dating people.

I know this sounds all of thirteen years old, but I really feel weird around the married people sometimes. I feel jealous because they have a buddy to do things with if they ever don't have someone else and I feel awkward because sometimes they don't seem to need other friends or I don't know how to be friends with a man in my class without knowing his wife without things being weird...

And then in the midst of all these volatile emotions, I tell myself: Think of Betsey and Luke. The most normal people in the world (ok, a lie, the weirdest, but normal in the familiar-to-me sense) are also married. You are friends with them. You love them. You can be friends with these people, too. I still haven't figured out HOW much of the time. But you are my inspiration...

I know that's really goofy. But it's actually true. Thinking of you is how I remind myself that married people don't have to be intimidating and can be good friends. (I told you it sounded thirteen.)

I miss you!
