Introducing: Technique of the Week.

Why hello, long lost readers. It has been quite some time since I have discussed my innermost thoughts and feelings, things God has been teaching me, or what is happening in my life. And tonight is not the night to delve into these issues. However, I did want to give you one exciting update on my life:

I recently purchased a new (well, new to me) camera. A DSLR. A Canon Rebel XSi. And I'm pretty excited.

My goal: to learn how to use this camera to take stellar pictures so that I can share my Indian exploits with all the kindly folks back home. So, in order to do this, these next few weeks I will be exploring this camera and it's features. In order to hold me accountable, I will be posting a "Technique of the Week", which will range from this week's edition--turning the camera on and taking lots of random pictures, to next week where I begin to explore individual settings, shutter speed, iso, etc. I'm super excited to share this exploration of technology with you! So, let the shooting begin!

This is one of the first pictures I took with the new camera. Luke's goal was to see if it would take a picture down his throat. It did.

The first time I took the camera (I should come up with a name for it...Luke just suggested Charles...) out, I went to the garden. The sunflower pictures are of our sunflowers and the butterfly one is of a neighboring garden.

Saturday we took our friends' kids to the playground. Neil let me borrow some of his awesome lenses (they also have a Canon DSLR). The kids had a blast, and I had a blast taking pictures with these amazing lenses (they are on my list of things to buy next...when I have some money just laying around...). I got some great pictures, but don't want to post them until I get permission from Neil and Rachel. In the mean time, I'll post some of the pictures I got that do not show their faces (and hope that's okay).

Yeah. I'm pretty excited about this new camera and exploring all of its features. My favorite feature thus far: continuous shooting. I can shoot up to 3.5 photos per second. And it was so much fun to capture the kids in this mode.

I'm not sure what I'll be working on this week. But I do know one thing: I can't wait to show you!

Elisabeth,
You don't know me. And I don't know you. But, we do know Luke. And Cayli, and Emily, and... etc.
I also have an XSI! I'm so jazzed that you have one too and that you're learning it inside and out! I've had mine for almost a year, and I'm still learning! It's sooo fun!

Random, yes. I just felt compelled to share this with you. ;]
Happy Shooting!!

Hi Shannon!

How fun! I love taking pictures with it! I'm glad you have one too!

Weird question: but I've been thinking about naming mine (I'm not that crazy, I promise...). Does yours have a name?
