100 joys

it is much later than i was anticipating doing this quick blog. just because i have not kept up in posting my 100 joys, it does not mean i have not been keeping track. so after an eventful christmas trip home, complete with family, doggies, snow, sledding and my face coming into direct contact with a tree during said sledding, i'm back. my goal is to do at least 10 each day this week, and hopefully, then be caught up/finished by january 1. so, here's 30-40!

(30) hot chocolate and peanut butter toast the morning of the first snow (which happened a long time ago). my mom used to always make this for us throughout the winter, and i celebrated dc's first snow with my own hot chocolate and peanut butter toast.

(31) boots in the snow. i really like these boots. and i like the way they look walking through the snow.
(32) colors found naturally in nature. and how when my little point and shoot automatic settings kicked in, they identified these colors as the sunset.

(33) peppermint mocha creamer in hot chocolate in my teal mug and drunk on a cold morning on my way to the bus. i think that's self explanatory.

(34) bright yellow. especially when the rest of the world seems to be the same color.

(35) sunrises. even though seeing the sunrise on the way to the metro means that i'm running pretty late, i still enjoy seeing the sky light up in those bright colors.

(36) junior. while i mentioned buke earlier and how her (still haven't decided gender--trying out both him and her for now...) little click-click brings me joy, i would be remiss if i didn't mention junior, who has brought us most of these 100 joy pictures. i don't really know if his name is junior, but it's kind of fitting...

(37) my husband dancing. he really does the most random and enjoyable things. he brings me lots of laughter and joy. especially on hard days. i love him.

(38) playing with shutter speeds on buke. luke and i were meeting some friends and they were a bit late, so we spent (at least) 15 minutes putting the shutter speed from anywhere to 5 seconds to 30 seconds and capturing traffic. this was the coolest picture of the night, with a shutter speed of 2 seconds.

(39) zoolights. luke and i have been trying to go to this cheesy light display at the national zoo for two years and we have failed. and this year IT WAS FREE! is there anything better than cheesy, free Christmas lights in the zoo?
(40) thanks for asking. yes there is...seeing it with good friends. we walked, talked, laughed, drank hot coco and ate kettle corn. it was delightful.
and while i'm at it, i'll finish off the zoolights joys...

(41) petting zoos. they make me happy. i like petting animals and seeing little kids pet animals. even if the animals are kind of lame...like cows and goats. you can tell it's a city zoo, not a rural one...

(42) random displays. like this panda that was dancing in a snow globe? the kids loved it though, and would press their faces up to the plastic and wave. what made this random display even better (worse?) was that we watched the panda struggle to get INTO the snow globe. around with about 10 kids, who all screamed in horror when the panda mascot's head FELL OFF. it was one of those moments when all the adults were laughing guiltily (word?) while they tried to comfort all of their kids who were horrified. luckily our group of four doesn't have kids. so we just laughed (and tried to stifle them to avoid glares from parents...)
